BBC Review of this album

Leonard Cohen has been writing and recording immensely literate and poetic music for more than fifty years -- but being a musician is his second career. He was one a Canada's most acclaimed and award-winning poet-novelists. But in Canada, with its small market, that didn't equate to financial success, so in 1967, he moved to the US to pursue a career in music. Over the years, his music has influenced and has been covered by dozens of popular artsis, while his style has matured and mellowed.

A financial setback (his manager embezzled the money he had saved from his career) in his mid-70s, brought him out of semi-returement and sent him back on the road for the tour that is recorded in this presentation, and his reception on the road truly invigorated him. He went on to perform in about 250 3-hour shows, and followed it with another album in 2012, Old Ideas, with its own tour. In September 2014, at age 80, he is releasing his latest album, Popular Problems, and preparing for another tour.
